The 4 basic types of tattoo design site:

Membership sites offer access to designs (usually thousands) in return for a joining fee (usually for unlimited access). Members can then browse, enlarge and print off flash to take to their tattoo artist. The advantages of membership sites is that new designs are added to the collection and they usually have communities, forums etc where photos and ideas can be exchanged.

Downloads of tattoo collections in the form of ebooks can be saved on to your pc so you don't need to connect to the net to browse. Like membership sites designs can then be printed off and taken to the artist and often contain thousands of designs.

The one-off purchase of a design is an option offered by some sites where visitors browse pages of designs and only pay for the one they want. One design alone often usually costs half that of a download or membership site which give you thousands of designs instead of just one. This is obviously not good value and we do not report on any of these sites in this report.

Free sites are a first option for most people. It is clearly better not to pay unless you get a real benefit. Needless to say free designs often have poor artistic & design and image quality. Another big issue with free tattoo designs is they are very over used. Huge amounts of people download the same free tattoo designs each day and get their body's inked permanently. Many free designs are illegally copied from the artist who has the copyright to them.

Lastly the cost of a quality collection download or membership site is around $20 - £30 (£12-15 in the UK). Is it worth paying this, the price of a dvd or to see a movie for something that you will always have and be a part of you? For these reasons we do not report on free sites in Tattoo Design Report.
